Recently Shonali Datta, Managing Director of Banyan Tours & Travels, was in east-coast Australia for travel industry road shows and meetings with interested parties to gain greater visibility and bookings within the Australian market for high end special interest/niche groups and FIT’s seeking extraordinary experiences which touch the soul. Her visit and itinerary was managed here in Australia by AITTC member organization Inspired Luxury.
Banyan Tours & Travels are the number one producing Virtuoso DMC in India and one of the largest source of bookings globally for Taj Palaces. Naturally Oberoi is also strong, but 50% of their reservations are for the smaller boutique properties throughout the region. They operator seven offices with their own fleet of vehicles across India and their cruise division provides the ground support, tours and activities for companies such as Silver sea within the Indian subcontinent.
They are very innovative and curate market-leading authentic experiences in the region, which many other DMC’s follow.Banyan’s primary focus is the special interest segment – not just as small group tours, but individual FITs with tailored with a focus on specific activities. They create historic and culinary tours with leading interior designers, architects, art connoisseurs, museums etc often with a guest lecturer on board. Most of Banyan’s clients want them to bring this element into their trips so they already have a panel of experts and guest lecturers from which to tap into.
AITTC Chairman Sandip Hor and Co Chairman Phillip Boniface had a brain storming session with Shonali and Lynne Ireland, CEO Inspired Luxury.
