AITTC logoThe newly formed Australia India Travel and Tourism Council (AITTC) is a voluntary organisation that has launched in India and Australia with the goal of enhancing and influencing bilateral tourist traffic movement between the world’s two breathtaking nations. It represents the passion of individuals and organisations from across the travel and tourism industry in Australia and India who are enthused to enhance tourism between both nations.

 
The AITTC will focus on working with partners in the industry to assist in growing bilateral travel and its membership will open up a myriad of opportunities for hotels, international and domestic airlines, travel agents, tour operators and others directly and indirectly associated with the industry.

 
AITTC AIMS TO:
 · Attract individuals and organisations in tourism industry and build network

 · Sponsor round table discussions with appropriate participants to address an issue

 · Hosting industry networking sessions to provide a forum to share knowledge, and identify issues

 · Educate travellers with country knowledge

 · Undertake strategic initiatives to facilitate bilateral tourist flow

 · Help foster a sustainable tourism industry in India and Australia

 The AITTC founding members are highly experienced and reputable personnel of the travel community and consist of :

AITTC spokesperson Sandip Hor said, “We have formed this council to represent individuals and organisations from across the travel industry in India and Australia. We’re keen to enhance knowledge for travellers to these destinations, research travel trends, sponsor round table discussions and host industry networking.” He also added, The partnership between both countries has gone beyond Commonwealth, cricket and curry, and has developed into a strong exchange of culture and commerce and that includes tourism.”

 
A total of 41,100 Indian tourists visited Australia from Jan – March 2013, an increase of 4.3 per cent relative to the same period last year, ie. 2012. Indian arrivals to Australia have grown at an annual growth rate of 12.3 % over the last decade. Australia is a strong market for Indians travelling overseas with Tourism Australia predicting that the inbound market could rise in annual value up to $2.3 billion dollars by 2020 and deliver 300,000 annual visitors.

 
Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) showed a growth of 2.8% in March 2013 over March 2012. FTAs during the month of March 2013 were 6,40,000 as compared to FTAs of 6,23,000 during the month of March 2012 and 5,36,000 in March 2011.
More than 100 Australian organisations are expected to visit India in March to further enhance Business links in India.
